My boyfriend and I are both NFA (no fixed abode) and we have rent arrears.

He lived in a flat, and applied for housing benefit. From what we were told, all was going well, the housing benefit was paying the rent and life was good. Until a letter gets delivered by courier to the door, it was an eviction notice. Rent arrears. We received no letters or phone calls to tell us that the housing benefit was not going through... we had be told the complete opposite.

Since then, my boyfriend and I have been skipping from sofa to sofa when we need to both be settled. I am signed off sick long term by my doctor (for a plethora of mental health issues) and my partner is now also signed off sick because of this whole situation.
We are both incredibly stressed and depressed because we have nowhere to call our own and nowhere stable to stay... together.

We bid on a property through the choice based lettings scheme and received a call the next day to tell us that we were being considered, only to tell us today that we are not eligible for the property because of the rent arrears... we are devastated.

I have applied for a loan and been turned down because I am on benefits, and I will not apply for one of those "in your account in ten minutes" loans because of the disgustingly high rate of APR... and too much could go wrong with those.

PLEASE open your hearts and help us. We need somewhere stable and somewhere that we can call our own, and clearing the rent arrears would mean that we can finally get somewhere, somewhere we can be safe, together.
